The region now has two trained parenting facilitators who have been able to train other members and hold workshops and programme for their individual communities. Mothers' Union has taken a lead in working with women in prison and helping them on their release to readjust to family life in their communities. They are active in supporting those who have experienced domestic violence, and working with children with special needs.
The groups of islands that make up the province of the West Indies lie in the earthquake and hurricane belt. Hurricane Ivan in 2004 was the strongest storm to hit the Caribbean in over a decade. Relief Fund grants were sent to the Diocese of the Windward Islands and the Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands to enable them to purchase emergency supplies such as food and blankets for those worst affected by the Hurricane.
