Mothers' Union in Myanmar

Mothers' Union have sent an emergency relief fund grant of £10,000 to the relief effort of the Churches in Myanmar, in support of the rescue effort being mounted by the Anglican church there.

£5000 of the relief grant has gone into purchasing and distributing emergency food, blankets and mosquito nets to people whose homes and livelihoods have been destroyed by the cyclone in the delta region. All funds have gone to help Christians and Non Christians alike.

Channelling the supply of relief funding through the national Mothers' Union and the relief committee set up by the Archbishop of Myanmar, Mothers' Union members around the world are uniting in prayer and financial aid to assist the people of Myanmar working through its 7,500 Myanmar members and Mothers' Unions own development workers in Myanmar itself.

Speaking out to launch Mothers' Union's appeal, Worldwide President, Rosemary Kempsell said, " My heart goes out to the people of Myanmar (Burma). I have visited Yangon and know many there as friends. We must take this opportunity to help them in such devastating times."
