Meet our Fundraisers
All sorts of people are doing all sorts of amazing things to raise money for Mothers' Union, they are remarkable people and you can read about some of their experiences here;
Towards the end of last year we offered you, our members, as well as supporters throughout Mothers’ Union, the chance to run for us in the 2017 London Marathon. We are delighted to announce member Alice Leadbeter from the Ely diocese has secured the spot!
Not only will Alice be training hard over the coming months to ensure she is ready to meet the 26 mile challenge, she also aims to raise £2000 for Mothers’ Union. The money will go towards Mothers’ Union work throughout the UK & Ireland and worldwide, providing Christian care for those in need.
Alice is a teacher and a mum of three whose Mum, Susan Baker, has been a member for over thirty years, she recalls “Mum has been a member of the Mothers’ Union for most of my life. I always admired the work she did in the local prison, running parenting courses and supporting the woman’s shelter through the charity
Alice’s Mum Susan is now in fact the Diocesan President of Ely diocese and Alice herself recently became a member as well. On this opportunity to fundraise for Mothers’ Union Alice says;
“The opportunity to represent Mothers’ Union in the London marathon allows me to capitalise on my role as an ambassador, passing on all the amazing things that the Mothers’ Union does to a wide, diverse audience. As well as informing people about Mothers’ Union who have possibly not heard about it before and raising the money that makes such a difference to so many people, my true goal is to get more people actively involved and supporting the work and projects as this would have a far longer, positive effect on The Mothers’ Union. I see the actual running of the marathon purely as a catalyst for these far more important goals.”
We will be posting a link on where you can help Alice reach her £2000 target by making a donation soon.
